Ovens drift over time. Before assuming a fault, measure the real temperature and recalibrate.
Measure With a Separate Thermometer
The display is only as good as the sensor behind it.
Fix: Hang an oven thermometer at the centre and compare it to the setpoint after a full preheat.
Use the Calibration Offset
Most ovens let you nudge the temperature up or down in the settings.
Fix: Enter the offset to close the measured gap, usually within ±35°F.
Replace a Failing Sensor
If the gap is large or erratic, the temperature sensor is failing.
Fix: A new sensor is an inexpensive, common repair.
