Ice makers fail in predictable ways. Diagnosing in order — water supply first, hardware last — saves you replacing parts you do not need.
Confirm Water Is Reaching the Unit
A kinked or shut-off supply line is the most common cause of no ice at all.
Fix: Check the saddle valve behind the fridge is open and the line is not crimped.
Frozen Fill Tube
The small tube feeding water into the mould often freezes, producing little or no ice.
Fix: Thaw it with a hair dryer on low; if it refreezes, the fill valve may be leaking and needs replacing.
Ice Maker Module or Inlet Valve
If water flows but the mould never cycles, the ice maker motor module or water inlet valve has failed.
Fix: Both are replaceable parts — a technician can confirm which with a quick voltage test.
