A small amount of condensate is normal; water pooling indoors is not. Here is why it happens.
Clear the Drain Channel
Algae and dust block the condensate path, so water backs up inside.
Fix: Clean the drain channel and the weep hole at the base.
Check the Tilt
A window unit must sit slightly lower at the back so water drains outdoors.
Fix: Adjust the mounting so the rear is a touch below the front.
Replace a Dirty Filter
A clogged filter ices the coil; when it melts, it overwhelms the drain.
Fix: Clean the filter monthly to prevent ice buildup.
